The LEVC TX is for business drivers who often have to take customers or colleagues from place to place. Easy to drive and maintain, with outstanding manoeuvrability and all round visibility, it is not surprising that the LEVC TX is a favourite among cab drivers.
Perhaps not the go-to choice for many business car drivers, the LEVC TX is nevertheless, by design, totally suited as a business vehicle for drivers needing to transport people across cities, as well as being a great talking point.
The LEVC TX is a petrol plug-in hybrid range-extender, and currently accounts for around 40% of London’s black cab fleet. Engineered and manufactured in Britain, there are three front-facing seats and three rear-facing berths, which fold down, to transport passengers. Every seat has a seatbelt, with two also featuring Isofix points. Leg room is not an issue unless all six passengers seats are in use and then only for the two passengers facing each other directly behind the driver, if they're particularly tall.
With a glass roof, on-board wi-fi, USB sockets, sat nav, 9 inch central touchscreen, temperature control and an intercom, the LEVC TX is, as you would expect, a great city car that is more economical for stopping, starting and lower speeds than its diesel predecessors. It also handles well on motorways and even country roads.
On battery power alone, the all-electric range is 78 WLTP miles. The internal combustion engine relies on a 36-liter (9.5 US gallons) tank, giving it a 255-mile range. It has a big battery, and the wheels are driven exclusively by an electric motor, but there is still a fossil fuel engine, kicking in when the state of charge drops below a certain level. So if a longer journey is required or a charger can’t be located, there’s a tank of fuel to fall back on.
Aside from the obvious, anyone can lease the LEVC TX. Its six passenger berth makes it ideal for drivers who need a little more people-carrying ability than that provided by most vehicles in a more formal vehicle type than a domestic vehicle. Some healthcare, social or community care providers and other businesses that need to shuttle customers around cities would likely find this a good choice for their business. The TX Access model has been meticulously designed to be fully wheelchair accessible. It features a direct access ramp that folds away into the floorspace.
