SUVs have been increasingly popular in the past decade and there’s now an SUV in every manufacturer’s line up. They offer drivers who want a spacious car a great alternative to estate models, a high road position with better road visibility or just a larger car that fits seven.

If you’re looking for a new car then the team at Xcite car leasing is here to help. If it’s an SUV you’re after then our team have put together their top 10 pick currently available on the UK market.

The Best SUVs for 2024

1. Skoda Kodiaq

skoda kodiaq best suvs

Our first pick is the Skoda Kodiaq. There’s actually three Skodas that made our list. We’ve found Skoda to be a reliable and affordable brand that appeals to a large number of drivers which is why there’s so many of them in our top 10.

First introduced six years ago the Kodiaq is the largest SUV in Skoda’s line up. It has the option of seven seats if you want a car that can fit more passengers but is more stylish than the traditional boxy MPVs. It’s got lots of room on the inside and seven adults can fit comfortably into the car, with the middle row of seats sliding forward to give the rear two passengers more leg room.

Despite the roomy interior the Kodiaq is easy to drive around town and with the optional Park Assist that will tell you if a parking space is large enough and even automatically steer you into it, the Kodiaq is easy to park as well.

It’s not just us who love the Kodiaq though, it’s won several awards including the Best Large SUV from Auto Express twice, Autotrader’s Best 7 Seater and carwow’s buy it award in 2023.

If you’d like to see how soon you could be driving a Kodiaq then why not take a look at our current Kodiaq leasing deals or give us a call on 0330 221 0000 and speak to one of our Leasing Consultants.

2. Volvo XC40

volvo xc40 best suvs

Volvo  is a brand known internationally for creating safe and reliable cars. In fact, it was Volvo who invented the safety seatbelt that is now standard in all new cars. When you think of a Volvo you might think of the boxy estates of the 1990s that they were best known for, but today’s Volvo is a lot more stylish.

The Volvo XC40 is the first of two Volvo SUVs to be included in our top pick. It’s the smallest SUV in the brand’s line up and pairs size and style in a nimble package. It’s a smooth drive with good handling, and you’ll get a high driving position that lets you see more of the road ahead.

On the interior you’ve got comfort and style, with the front two seats offering some of the most adjustable positioning on the market. You’re able to adjust the tilt, height and have a four-way electric lumbar adjustments on all trim levels.

There’s two petrol engines for you to choose from, both of which come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive as standard. Or you can opt for the XC40 Recharge and can get a fully electric powertrain, with a range of around 290 miles.

Take a look at our fantastic XC40 leasing deals if you want to see what the cost of one could be.

3. Range Rover Sport

range rover sport best suvs

Our third pick is the Range Rover Sport. Recently relaunched to give it a refresh the latest models are slightly bigger than their predecessor but also a lot lighter making it a nimbler drive.

Not only can the Range Rover Sport handle windy country lanes, but it’s one of the few SUVs that is also just as capable off-roading. With a ground clearance of 281mm it won’t get stuck on steep terrain and can wade through water up to 900mm deep.

It’s a luxury SUV that is designed to be a little sportier and more fun to drive than other SUVs. There’s a range of engines for you to choose from, from an impressive 626 bhp V8 petrol to a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a 76 mile electric range so you’re sure to find the Range Rover Sport to suit you.

We’ve got excellent leasing deals currently available for you to choose from. Just head over to our Range Rover Sport leasing offers to browse them all.

4. Kia EV6

kia ev6 best suvs

The Kia EV6 as its name would suggest is a fully electric SUV. Unlike other models in their range the EV6 was designed from the beginning to be an electric model rather than electrifying an existing one.

It’s a relatively small SUV, which means it’s easy to drive in urban environments and doesn’t feel oversized when trying to park in narrow supermarket bays. It almost feels like a roomy hatchback but with a higher driving position, making it a great choice for drivers who want the benefits of an SUV but not necessarily need a bigger car.

There’s a mileage range of up to 328 miles and it’s capable of rapid charging going from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 18 minutes on suitable chargers. The range is more than enough for most drivers’ daily needs, and if you’re taking a longer trip then with the rapid charging you’ll be off the road for minimal time.

Why not take a look at our Kia EV6 leasing deals to find out more about the car and getting one of your own.

5. Volvo XC90

volvo xc90 best suvs

The second Volvo to make it on our list is the XC90. This is the largest of the brand’s SUVS and comes with seven seats as standard.

You’ll get a 9 inch touchscreen infotainment centre that controls the majority of the vehicle’s features for a clean dashboard with minimal buttons. This looks great, but can be a little bothersome if you want to change something quickly.

Current models are available with petrol or petrol hybrid engines. The T8 is a PHEV and is capable of up to 43 miles purely powered by the electric system. If you’re looking for a large hybrid with a long range, then the XC90 is a great choice.

This car is ideal for larger families. It’s a spacious and safe SUV that fits the entire family and looks great too! If you want to learn more about the different spec options and pricing then take a look at our XC90 leasing deals.

6. Skoda Karoq

skoda karoq best suvs

The second Skoda to enter our list is the Karoq. It’s the midsized SUV in Skoda’s line up making it a good option for drivers who want a reasonable sized SUV. We think it’s a versatile and practical SUV that offers drivers plenty of value for money from a reliable brand.

First introduced seven years ago the Karoq is a compact SUV that gives you plenty of room on the inside but manages to be small enough that it’s still easy to handle. There’s plenty of choice for you too, from petrol and diesel engines, front and four-wheel drive, manual or automatic transmission, a range of trim levels and even removable rear seats for drivers who regularly need more cargo space. All of this choice means that you can really find a Karoq that suits your driving needs.

If you’re interested in a Skoda Karoq then give us a call on 0330 221 000 or take a look at our current Karoq leasing deals.

7. Lexus NX

lexus nx best suvs

Lexus is a luxury brand that was one of the first car manufacturers to incorporate hybrid technology in their models. This was traditionally in the form of self-charging systems so there was little inconvenience for their drivers but still a lot of the EV benefits. However, the Lexus NX is their first foray into the PHEV section, with an electric powered range of up to 45 miles. For drivers not ready to make the move to a hybrid that needs charging Lexus are still offering a self-charging version of the NX. We think that both options are a great choice if you’re looking for a premium SUV and want a more environmentally friendly option.

The NX is finished to a high standard with quality materials throughout, from the wraparound dashboard for better driver visibility and functionality to the soft leather seats. It’s not just the interior that is designed for comfort though. It has smooth handling, with great suspension even when you opt for the firmer adaptive sports suspension models.

We’ve got a range of leasing offers on the Lexus NX if you’re interested in one for your next car.

8. Land Rover Defender

land rover defender best suvs

When you think of iconic SUV models a lot of people will think of Land Rover. The brand is synonymous with off-roading and capable SUVs so we couldn’t create a top 10 without including one.

We’ve chosen the rugged Land Rover Defender as it’s a stylish and comfortable car that’s also capable of any green-laning activity you might be interested in.

There are three size options available; the 90, the 110 and the 130.  The 90 is a three door five seater which is ideal for those who want an SUV for off-roading but don’t necessarily need the size or practicality of one. The midsized 110 has five doors and is available with five, six or seven seats making it the ideal choice for families. The rear doors make getting smaller children in and out much easier, and the extra seats are great for larger families. And the largest 130 model which is available with up to eight seats.

The defender is just at home in the city as it is the countryside, though you may want to choose one of the petrol engines if the majority of your driving is urban as a diesel engine will regularly need to run at a consistent higher speed to avoid the particulate filter being clogged. There is the option of petrol, diesel and PHEV engines depending on your needs.

Why not take a look at our Defender leasing deals if you’d like to learn more about the different models available for you at the minute.

9. BMW iX

BMW ix best suvs

BMW launched the iX as their flagship electric SUV and it was designed to make a splash in the growing electric sector. Its design is seen as controversial by some with its bold styling but we love the way it stand out from the crowd.

The brand is known for their fun to drive cars and the iX is no exception. It’s got responsive handling, with plenty of grip and steering feedback. You can set the regenerative braking to automatic mode which will use the vehicle satnav and sensors to adapt the level of braking based on your usage or you can manually choose low, medium or high (which is strong enough to bring the car to a stop).

It’s also got plenty of high-tech features on the interior such as the latest iDrive infotainment system, 5G connectivity and cloud storage.

There’s two battery sizes for you to choose from, an entry level 74 kWh which offers you a impressive 264 mile range or a massive 108 kWh battery in the xDrive50 and M60 models, which offers you a range of up to 284 miles depending on the model.

If you’d like to know more about the BMW iX why not take a look at our great leasing deals or give us a call on 0330 221 0000.

10. Skoda Enyaq iV

skoda enyaq best suvs

Rounding out our trio of Skodas, and completing the list, is the Enyaq iV. It was the brand’s first fully electric car and has quickly become a popular option for those looking for an electric SUV.

The Enyaq iV has a spacious 585 litre boot and several storage cubbies in the cabin. With leg and head room for adults in all five seats it’s a great choice for those with older children as they won’t be fighting for room as they grow.

There are currently two battery options available the 58 kWh in the 60 model which offers a range of 246 miles, or a 77 kWh battery in the 80 model that you can get 339 miles from.

If you’d like to lease a Skoda Enyaq then get in touch with us on 0330 221 0000 and one of our Leasing Consultants will be happy to help.
