The most searched-for future car in the UK, expected to be released in early 2025, is the Dacia  Bigster  with 6,600 monthly searches. As the name suggests, this is a large SUV, sitting above the Dacia Duster in terms of size. The Bigster offers rugged looks, plenty of room, and practical features.

The second most in-demand future car coming in early 2025, is the eagerly awaited Alpine A290, the first-ever electric hot hatch. Our data reveals that Brits are vying for an EV hot hatch to hit the market as this vehicle has already garnered 4,400 monthly searches.

The third most anticipated vehicle is another EV – the Polestar 5, planned for launch in 2025. Aiming to rival the Porsche Taycan and with 3,600 monthly searches in the UK already, the Taycan might have met its match.

Also placing third is the Volkswagen ID.2 with 3,600 monthly searches. This budget-friendly compact electric car is set to be released in 2025 and will be the cheapest ID model. Not far from the price of a VW Polo retailing at around £21,061 ($27,824).

The Kia EV5 will come to the UK in 2025 but is already raking up 2,900 monthly searches. That makes this electric vehicle the fourth most in-demand car yet to be released. But what makes this car so popular? The EV5 is a family car focusing on space and comfort, not compromising on space for aerodynamics which can be rare in EVs.

The most in-demand future car in the US is the Lucid Gravity, landing in late 2024. The Gravity is an electric SUV that redefines the genre with its unique build, that almost passes for a minivan or wagon. The car has garnered a huge 40,500 monthly searches, indicating that this car will make waves when it hits the market.

The Fisker Pear, the second all-electric SUV from the California-based brand is the second most anticipated future car in the US with 18,100 monthly searches. The Pear – which stands for ‘Personal Electric Automotive Revolution’ - will offer a range of up to 348 miles and will go on sale in 2025.

The third most in-demand future car is the Cadillac Escalade IQ. Launching in October 2024, it is one of the most expensive luxury electric SUVs to date, with prices starting at $127,700 (£102,000). The Escalade IQ has amassed 14,800 monthly searches in the US.

The Jeep Recon is the fourth most searched-for future car with 12,100 monthly searches. The Recon is designed for adventurers looking for a fully electric SUV, taking inspiration from the iconic Wrangler. The car is expected to go on sale in late 2024.

85% of the Most In-Demand Cars in the UK and US are Electric

Looking at the top 10 most in-demand cars in the UK and US, a huge 85% of them are fully electric. In the UK specifically, 86% of the most searched-for future cars are pure electric, and in the US, it’s 83%.

Surprisingly, electric vehicles dominate these lists, but EV sales have stalled in the UK and US. In March 2024, electric cars made up 15.2% of new car registrations in the UK, down from 16.2% in 2023. In the US, electric and hybrid sales dropped by 0.8% in the first quarter of 2024, from 18.8% to 18.0%.

Both countries are facing low economic growth and high interest rates which can impact private car sales, especially electric cars as they typically have a higher price than ICE cars. However, affordable EVs are coming to the market, such as the Renault 5 E-Tech, Volkswagen ID.2, and the Fisker Pear has also been tipped as an affordable EV option.

Methodology
