Tesla are now taking orders from UK drivers for their latest model – the Model Y Design Studio, with the first models due to land in the country in early 2022.
Just like the rest of Tesla’s range, the Model Y's fully electric and has a sleek, high-tech interior. It’s a mid-size SUV that’s designed for the modern family, with plenty of space for passengers and luggage, a range of helpful and entertaining features and one of the best ranges and charging speeds on the market.
The Model Y's based on the popular Model 3 so is very similar in looks but slightly wider, longer and noticeably taller, giving it proportions more similar to the bulkier Model X.

There'll be 2 versions of the Model Y: a Long Range AWD and Performance. In Tesla’s catalogue the Long Range AWD models have the longest achievable mileage ranges and better off road capability with the all wheel drive offering traction whilst the performance models are higher powered, able to achieve faster speeds more quickly.
The Long Range AWD offers drivers a WLTP range of 315 miles between charges while the Performance can achieve 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Both can go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 36 minutes on one of Tesla’s 250kW rapid chargers.
There’s plenty of room with the option of 7 seats and an impressive 2,100 litres of cargo space. Each of the rear seats folds down flat independently so you can configure the space to best fit your luggage and passengers.
We know that Teslas come with a larger price tag than some of the alternatives on the market but the Model Y offers class leading range and charging speeds that, until the rest of the market catches up, justify the cost.
