10 Most Asked Car Leasing Questions

Our Xpert Leasing Team have answered our 10 most commonly asked customer questions about their lease, both car and contract. 

1. What’s included in a lease deal?

Our lease deals will include:

  • Xclusive use of a vehicle of your choice
  • Fixed low monthly payments
  • Road tax (at the initial taxation rate)

You can also add a maintenance package as part of you lease agreement and this will include:

  • Servicing
  • MOTs
  • Expected regular maintenance work

2. Will I get a warranty on a lease deal?

If you are leasing a new car then yes you will get the manufacturer’s warranty on your new car. The warranty starts on the day the car is first registered and for most of our new cars this will be the day before or the day of delivery.

Some cars will still be brand new but may have been registered before delivery if this is the case and they’re classed as pre-reg (over 3 months between registration and delivery) then you’ll still get the warranty the start date will just be a little earlier.

If you’re looking at one of our used EV deals, then nearly all of these cars will now be outside of the warranty period.

3. How does leasing work?

Leasing a new car is a great way to drive a brand new car, that you get to update every few years without any of the hassle of selling your car, worrying it’s depreciating value or having to get the funds together to buy a new one.

We have a very straightforward process and our team work hard to make sure that it runs as smoothly as possible for you. Simply follow the steps below 👇

4. When will my new car be delivered?

When your car will be delivered depends on a number of factors  and can change during the leasing process.

We’ll let you know when ordering the car what the expected lead time is, and keep you updated throughout the process until we’re ready to confirm a delivery date.

When your car’s at the dealership and ready to be delivered we’ll let you know and arrange for it to come on a convenient day for you.

5. Who do I talk to after delivery?

There may be some questions that you have which the team cannot answer but if that happens they’ll make sure you have the right contact details to get them answered. The most common example of this is if you want more information on payments, a lot of funders will only discuss these details with you directly for security reasons.

6.  Can I make the initial payment on a credit card?

Unfortunately, most of our funders will not allow you to make the initial payment on a credit card. The payment will usually need to be taken from the account details you provide to set up the direct debit.

There are a couple of funders who do allow different payment methods in some circumstances, so you can always ask if this is an option but we’d advise against relying on being able to do this.

7. Do I need good credit?

Yes, you’ll generally need good credit to lease a car. A lease is a finance agreement and so your credit score is considered as part of the affordability checks in the application process.

8. Why do I need finance in place to lease a car?

Leasing a car is a financial agreement, and so before you can get the car you need to be approved for the finance to make sure it’s a suitable product for you.

This is for your protection as well as the funder’s, as part of the process is making sure that the long-term financial commitment of a lease doesn’t overextend you or lead to financial hardships.

9. Can I return the car if I don’t like it?

No, you can’t return the car if you don’t like it. This is why we recommend doing your research and if you want to see the car in person beforehand then visiting a local dealership to see it.

10.  Can I hand my car back early?

You can hand your car back early if you want to but there will usually be an early termination fee to do so. This is because you have signed a contract agreeing to a set lease length and payments over this time.

If you want to end the lease early then the cost of early termination will vary and most funders will provide you with a quote based on the circumstances at the time so we can’t give you a confirmed cost before we ask the funder for a quote on your behalf.
