If you’re looking for your next family car then we’re here to help! Here at Xcite Car Leasing we work hard to make sure we have the best deals available on all models and to help you decide which of these is the right one for you we’ve selected our top picks for 2023 family cars.

Best Family Cars for 2023

1. Skoda Kodiaq

In top spot we’ve gone for the Skoda Kodiaq as it’s a versatile seven seat SUV that’s perfect for families large and small.

Skoda is a Czech brand that’s become known in recent years for affordable cars that provide comfortable and spacious cars without a high price tag. There are several different trim levels and optional extras for you to choose from, though the entry level already comes with a lot of features as standard.

The Kodiaq is the largest of Skoda’s SUV range and has seven seats so is a great choice for larger families! The two rear seats fold down to give you more cargo room when they’re not needed for passengers.

2. Volvo XC40

Our second pick is another SUV with the Volvo XC40. SUVs have become a popular alternative to an estate or hatchback model for family cars thanks to their spacious interior with plenty of cargo room for pushchairs and sports kits alike, higher sitting position which makes it easier to get children in and out of car seats and optional four by four drive for a smoother ride.

Ever since they were first established in the 1920s Volvo has been at the forefront of vehicle safety advancements. In fact it was Volvo who first invented the three point seatbelt, which is now standard in cars around the world, and they waived their patent rights to it so that all manufacturers could use it. Today’s Volvos remain packed with safety features like blind spot detection and cross traffic alerts to make driving as safe as possible. The XC40 also has a five star NCAP safety rating.

Not only is the XC40 a very safe and stylish car, it’s also available as a hybrid or fully electric model in the XC40 Recharge. This makes it a great choice for drivers who want something a little more environmentally friendly without compromising on other requirements.

3. Vauxhall Astra

Vauxhall has long been a favourite of British drivers, and the Astra along with the Corsa has been one of their best selling models for decades. Just because there have been several iterations of the Astra that doesn’t mean that it feels dated, in fact the latest models have everything a modern family needs and looks great too.

The current version of the popular hatchback offers drivers a range of engines to choose from, both in terms of fuel type and size, all of which have excellent fuel economy. As well as a range of trim options, with features like their Pure Panel infotainment system, for media control and a digital instrument display, as standard on them all.

We think the Astra is an excellent choice for drivers who don’t want an SUV but still want a car that has plenty of room for all the family to fit.

4. Skoda Octavia

With the popularity of Skoda it shouldn’t surprise you that we’ve chosen two for our top pick, and the second one to make the cut is the Skoda Octavia.

Available as both a hatchback and an estate model the Octavia is a practical option in both body shapes, and you can choose the best option for your needs. We recommend the estate version if you regularly need to carry a lot in the boot.

With a spacious interior, that has generous head, shoulder and leg room in the rear seats, the Octavia is a great choice for families with older children who need a little more room. Especially if you regularly need to carry three rear passengers, as its wide body allows them to fit comfortably.

5. Ford Focus

Our final pick is a long-time favourite of UK drivers – the Ford Focus. There’s a reason that it has remained a top choice for drivers over the decades it’s been in production – it’s an affordable spacious hatchback that has low running costs from a dependable brand.

The most popular version of the Ford Focus is the hatchback but if you do need a little more space there is an estate version available. Both body styles have a range of economic engines, both petrol and diesel, for you to choose from and come with a lot of features as standard.

Although Ford has confirmed that the Focus is to be removed from its range it’s not due to leave production until 2025 which means there’s still plenty of time for you to get behind the wheel of one.
