As we enter into the third national lockdown we wanted to give you an update on what this might mean for your lease vehicle.
During previous lockdowns there have been various levels of impact on the leasing sector so we wanted to let you know what the impact of the new lockdown will be, whether you’re looking for a new car, wanting to amend your lease or nearing the end of it.
A New Lease Vehicle
If you are looking at taking out a new lease vehicle then you can still do so.
We are working closely with our funders and dealers to ensure there is minimum impact on you throughout the leasing process. If there are any delays or changes caused by the lockdown then we will make you aware as soon as we know.

We are in the process of speaking to all our dealerships and most of them have confirmed that they are still going ahead with deliveries. If there is any impact at all on your delivery then we will let you know as soon as we are aware of it.
The delivery agents used by our dealerships are all working to Covid-19 restrictions, and the handover will be as contactless as possible.
As many agents are not requiring customers to sign delivery paperwork please be aware that we might contact you after delivery asking you to confirm that you have received the vehicle. This is because some of our funders require written confirmation that you have possession of the vehicle.
Current Lease Vehicles
If you are currently leasing a vehicle then you might be wanting to amend your lease agreement or discuss what options are available if you are struggling to make payments. Take a look below for more information on these options.
All of our funders are working in accordance with the latest FCA advice to ensure that there are options available to their customers if they are struggling to make payments.
Options that they may be able to offer include payment breaks, reduced payments and payment plans.
Most of our funders prefer to speak to you directly as this involves discussing personal finance information. However, you can contact us on 0330 221 0000 and we can direct you to the correct department with your funder if you are unsure.
The FCA and our funders all advise that if you are able to continue to make payments then you do so.
Servicing, MOTs and repairs
Garages have been advised that they can remain open during this lockdown. This means that if your vehicle is due to be serviced, have an MOT or needs repairs then you can still arrange for these to be completed.
If you are nearing the end of your lease then you will need to arrange for collection of the lease vehicle.
We are currently in the process of confirming with each of our funders whether their collections are still going ahead. So far, we have had confirmation from Alphabet, ALD, Arval, Hitachi, Lex and Leasys that their collections are taking place.
Please note that all collection companies are working to Covid-19 restrictions and contactless where possible.
Amending Your Mileage
With a third national lockdown in under a year it’s unsurprising that many of us have not driven the miles we expected to. For drivers with lease vehicles, this means that you might be considering lowering your annual mileage allowance.

If the pandemic and lockdowns have impacted a new vehicle you are getting then you can always look at extending your current lease.
There are two types of extensions; informal and formal.
Informal extensions are where you do not sign an extension agreement.
With an informal extension the amount you paid for your initial rental is not taken into account with the monthly payments and so your direct debit might change. Please be aware as well that if you are in an informal extension the payments will be taken in arrears, so at the end of the month, even if your contracted payment date was at the start of the month.
With a formal extension you sign a contract for a set period with an agreed mileage.

Purchasing your vehicle
Some of our funders also allow customers to purchase the vehicle if they get to the end of their contract and decide they want to keep the car.
If you would like to purchase your car then please get in touch with us and we can request a quote from your funder for you.
Please be aware that if you are not at the end of your lease yet then you might also need an early termination as well.
An early termination allows you to leave the lease before the end of the contract by making a payment.
