We’re back with another insight into the team behind our fantastic lease deals!
Over the next couple of weeks you’ll see more of these articles coming through with a member from each of our teams to help you understand what goes into making us one of the best leasing companies in the UK and introducing the people behind the work.
Today we’re focusing on Harry Tuckerman.
Harry is our Senior Pricing Executive which means he’s involved in getting the best prices on all the vehicles we offer and that these prices are the ones showing on our website and across the aggregators we advertise on.
He’ll also make sure that the shared spreadsheets and back end of the site used by our Sales Team are all up to date so that when our team are talking to customers they’re providing quotes with the correct prices and vehicle details.
As well as working on pricing he’s part of the procurement team which means he’s in regular contact with a number of dealerships and manufacturers to arrange vehicle orders, for batches of cars at the factory and in stock to give us a steady inflow of vehicles available for delivery throughout the year to try and minimise the impact of industry wide delays and shortages on customers looking for a new car.
Pricing and procurement are very closely linked as the deals we’re able to get from the brands and the vehicles available will affect the prices we are able to offer for your leases.
Before Xcite Car Leasing
I came to Wessex in my early 20s after doing a media apprenticeship at college and working for an online music magazine for a couple of years. I was looking for a new challenge and a job that felt like more of a career, where there was the opportunity for development and progression. I saw that at Xcite Car Leasing – it was a new role with plenty of opportunity to grow.
Morning Routine
I don’t have too much of a morning routine, I get up and get ready for the day, have some breakfast and get myself set up for work.
I’m working in my spare room, which we’ve put a desk and office set up in so I’ve got a dedicated area and can have my pc set up which means minimal effort in terms of setting up my workspace most days.
If it’s a day I’m coming into the office I will need to get up a fair bit earlier as I’ve got a long drive but my routine stays pretty much the same – I get up, get ready and have breakfast then instead of going to my home office, I head out to the car.
Daily Work
The first thing I do when I log on is to go through the emails that I’ve received overnight, actioning anything that is urgent and making a list of any tasks that come from my emails.
I’ll then load any enquiries we’ve received overnight from customers across the various platforms we use onto our central system so that one of our Leasing Consultants can get in touch with the customer and discuss their leasing needs.
After I’ve done both of those things then every day is a little different as it depends on what’s happening in my inbox. It could be pricing up cars and uploading them onto our sites or the aggregators we use, updating the vehicle spreadsheets that the Sales Team use with the latest dealer updates or new vehicles, working on ordering new vehicles with dealers and getting the best deals possible.
As there’s a few different components to my role it can be tricky to manage the different aspects and prioritising but I think I manage to find the right balance. I know that making sure our sites are showing the correct pricing and that we have vehicles on order and coming into stock are both high priorities so these tend to be top of the list most of the time.
Working from Home
I’m really enjoying working from home, I have my own space and am able to spread out if I need to which you don’t always get in the office and where my office space is in the spare room I’m able to shut the door and keep work separate from the rest of life.
I live over an hour away from the office so working from home has saved me a lot of time and money which is a bonus as well. I really enjoy having the extra time at the start and end of the day it gives me more time to spend with my partner, family and friends and I feel like I have more energy because I’m not spending so long stuck in traffic jams.
It always gives me more time to spend with our new dog Winnie. She usually sits with me during the day and then at lunch time we go for a walk which is great for both of us, it gives Winnie a chance to burn off some energy and makes sure I take a break away from the screen and unwind so I can be fresh for the afternoon.
Life Outside Xcite Car Leasing
I like to keep busy outside of work and having the extra time now with working from home has really helped me feel a little less rushed but still able to enjoy everything I want to.
I’m a keen football player and our team won the Salisbury Sunday League this year which was great! We have Winnie to take out and so walking with her also helps keep me fit in the off-season as we like to go exploring on longer walks in our local area.
I also like to play the guitar and was in a band pre-Covid which I hope to get up and running again soon.
If I wasn’t working for Xcite Car Leasing I’d be a firefighter. It’s always something that appealed to me as a kid, it’s a very physical job which I’d enjoy and you’re helping the community around you. I’m hoping to become a volunteer at my local station once we move a little closer so I’m within the required distance.
