If you’re looking for your new company car and aren’t sure which cars are the best, we’ve got the article for you! Our expert leasing team have put together their top choices for company cars in 2023, and these are their top five picks.

Best Company Cars of 2023

1. Tesla Model 3

In the top spot we’ve opted for the long-standing company car favourite, the Tesla Model 3.

Electric cars are a great choice for company car drivers because the government currently offers much lower BIK rates on electric vehicles (EVs) than any other fuel type, with the current rate just 2% compared to the rates of 15 – 37% on petrol and diesel models depending on their CO2 levels.

Tesla as a brand has been at the forefront of innovative EV technology ever since it first hit it market, and the Model 3 showcases this. It has a long range, of up to 374 miles depending on the model, rapid charging speeds, powerful performance and a minimalist and modern interior.

It’s not only a great choice because of its performance as an EV, but even if you didn’t consider the fuel type the Model 3 is a fantastic company car. It’s a spacious and roomy saloon, and with one large touchscreen to manage the vehicle controls it has an uncluttered dash which makes it feel rather tranquil.

2. MG4

Our next pick is another EV with the MG4.

MG Motors is a brand that’s risen in popularity since its return in the late 2000s with their reliable and affordable electric vehicles. The MG4 is a great choice for drivers who want and electric hatchback and is ideal for those who have a family thanks to its roomy rear seats and range of safety features.

You’ll get an electric range up to 281 miles if you opt for the long range battery option, whilst the standard entry-level battery is a little lower at 218. MG have also ensured the MG4 is capable of rapid charging which minimises the time spent at the charger.

Whilst the MG4 is one of the most affordable electric hatchbacks on the market that by no means makes it basic. In fact, there are plenty of features that come as standard, including a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment centre with smartphone connectivity, a seven-inch digital driver display, automatic LED headlights and rear parking sensors.

3.Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge

Volvo has long been a favourite brand of ours, with their safety-focused, spacious and reliable vehicles so it’s not surprising that we’ve selected one for our best company car picks.

We’ve opted for the Volvo XC40 T5 Recharge, which is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) vehicle. Whilst it’s not a fully electric vehicle it will still have a lower BIK rate because it has an electric-only range of around 28 miles. The current BIK rate s 14%.

The XC40 is Volvo’s smallest SUV but it’s still roomy enough, with rear seats that will comfortably fit two adults, three if you’re not in there for too long. The boot is slightly smaller due to the hybrid system, at 452 litres but that’s more than enough for most people’s day to day life.

4. Cupra Born

Cupra is a relatively new brand, but as a performance-focused sub-company of SEAT, they’ve got plenty of knowledge and skill within their design and development teams. This is perfectly showcased by their fully electric Cupra Born

The Cupra Born has a choice of two engines with the entry-level 58 kWh offering drivers around 263 miles between charges and the larger 77 kWh battery offering up to 335 miles.

It’s a sleek and sporty looking hatchback with performance figures that rival some of the most popular petrol and diesel hot hatches on the market. However, as another electric car you’ll be looking at a 2% BIK rate for the current tax year, and next, which makes it a great choice for drivers who want a company car that’s exciting to drive without a high price.

5. BMW i4

Along with the rest of the UK, we’ve long considered the BMW 3 Series a favourite for company car drivers which is why we were pretty excited when the BMW i4 hit the market, as it’s essentially an electric version of the 3 Series.

It’s got an excellent range of up to 367 miles, depending on the battery you choose, and is capable of rapid charging to get you back on the road as quickly as possible on those longer journeys. In fact, if you can find a suitable charger you can go from 10% charge to 80% in as little as 30 minutes.

There’s plenty of features that give it the BMW luxury feel, which is all supported by their innovative technology from the curved 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system to the adaptive regenerative braking system.
